Citizen Bare

Rocking at Higher Ground

Greetings

In the words of Citizen Bare’s bass player Jesse Cowan, “Happy Last Year!” Seriously though, Happy 2012 from all of us at Citizen Bare. We had our first gig of the year on January 5th at the Monkey HouseMilton Busker opened for us and really rocked the house. Make sure to get out to see him if you come across his name on a bill somewhere. Unfortunately for Citizen Bare, we were without Mr. John Gratton.  His contributions were missed sorely by everyone.  Thanks so much to Tyson Valyou for filing in on drums for us.  We look forward to playing one more show with him in February. That brings us to our upcoming shows.

Upcoming Shows

February 3rd @The Monkey House with This Way and Kingsley Flood.  This Way is a great band from Portand, Maine that happens to be Andrew James’ brother and sister-in-law’s band. There aren’t too many times you can come out to see four Pattersons share the stage.  We are also very excited to play with Kingsley Flood.  They won New Artist of the Year honors at the 2010 Boston Music Awards.  Its going to be a fun night with some fantastic music! Thanks to Billy Lynch for setting the show up.

February 24th @The Radiobean. This is a great local venue and should be a fantastic evening!

More shows in the works stay tuned!

Thank you to The Aerolites for putting on a great show and sharing the stage with us.
Many thanks to Brian Ling for his clown, MC and balloon skills.  He was fun and we all enjoyed him.
We also want to thank Hell’n Fury for her act, and The Burlington Bombers who were there in part to promote “The Great Derby Social” in Enfield, NH on January 28, 2012. This event will raise funds for breast cancer research.
Thanks to Vickie Gratton Photography, Brian McDonald, Jeff Cooper of cooperAV and his crew (special thanks to John Meli), and Darci Pepin-LaCroix for running the merch table.

And last but not least… this event was put on for you, our fans.  The biggest thanks goes to YOU! Thank you for your support over the past 4+ years; from the humble beginnings of the acoustic duo to where Citizen Bare is now! A full band with a newly released LP.  Without your support we know that we would not continue to grow our fanbase or have the success we’ve experienced.  We sincerely thank you and look forward to more opportunities to perform for you in the coming year.
January 5, 2012: Monkey House Winooski, VT with local singer/songwriter Milton Busker.

We also want to mention that Darin Savard will not be a member of Citizen Bare as we move forward in 2012. We want to thank him for his 18 months with the band and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.

Catching Up

February 11th, 2011

Wow!  It’s been awhile since anybody has posted to the blog!  Now that I’m out of school, this should not be nearly as sparse as it has been for the past year.

To catch everybody up who is reading our blog and not relying on Facebook or personal communication to notify them of Citizen Bare happenings.

Halloween, 2010 – We had a great time with the Halloween gig @ the Monkey House with Gneiss and Coba Stella.  The night was a lot of fun with costumes and the whole bit.  Plus there were some lucky winners of two MP3 players that contained Demo music from Citizen Bare, Gneiss, and Coba Stella.

New Years Eve, Citizen Bare had two gigs.

New Years Gig #1 – We played at First Night at the First Congregational Church.  We had a great time and got to see some fans who have not previously been able to come out to our shows.  What a great treat!  And we got to meet some great French folk musicians with some beautiful harmonies, flute playing, and other intriguing sounds.  Thanks to Jennifer Crowell for having us play!

New Years Gig #2 – We played at the Monkey House with Gneiss.  Another great time! and some good video footage to add to YouTube came out of that thanks to Jim Dion.  We will be working on splitting up the video and posting some of them.  That was our first night introducing some new songs and adding some more covers to the repertoire.  All seemed to be pretty well received.   At the end of the night CB and Gneiss joined forces to play a few songs.  I hope for more of that in the future.

February 10th, 2011 – We played at the Monkey House with Shady Alley.  Shady Alley started the night with some great harmonies and interesting acoustic arrangements.  They were great!  But what we were most excited about was introducing our new keyboard player, Elizabeth Patterson to our fans.  Elizabeth definitely adds a dynamic that was not present before.  We look forward to future gigs, and what shape our music will take with her addition.  Thanks so much to all of our fans for coming out for what was a very late night!  We definitely appreciate the support.

Alright…so we are caught up!  Now we can add some new gig info, new music info, videos, etc.  We will be sure to keep on top of it better than the past, so please come back frequently to check out what we are up to.

- John

The Monkey House gig this past Wednesday was a great time!  We had quite the turn-out, including a lot of new faces.  Thanks to everybody who made it out to the event.  For those of you who could not make it, here are some videos from the night.  We’ll be sure to post the rest as soon as they are uploaded to YouTube.
