New Song, Upcoming show & Recent gigs

Monday, September 21st, 2009

Hey Guys,

I just uploaded a new song to our myspace page. Da Da Da

http://www.myspace.com/citizenbare

What a great busy time for Citizen Bare:) In the past two months we have been super busy picking a few last minute gigs here and there. On September 11th we played the South End Art Hop @ The Rotary Club’s “Toast for Literacy”. That was a terrific time, always nice to get out to different venues and to play an event that has such a positive impact on the community. We played an hour long set and by the end of it John had lost his voice.

On September 17th we played a show @ Nectars with Adam King and Barefoot Shoes. That was a blasty Adam King is a great quirky piano player and Barefoot Shoes is another acoustic duo in the Burlington area.

We are looking forward to playing with Barefoot shoes again this coming Monday @ the Monkey House. Show starts @ 8pm

Hey Guys,

It’s good to finally have some time to write up a few quick reflections about the last couple months for Citizen Bare as well as what’s coming up in the future for us.
First off we would like to thank everyone for their support and to everyone who came out to the shows that we opened up for OhM THANKS!!! http://www.myspace.com/ohmmusic . We had a great time with the band from Youngstown Ohio and hope to see them again in the future. We sure did appreciate them opening up the door for us at Nectars.
John and I had a really good time in Portland, ME. He did great at the guitar competition but did not win. I will let him write more about that. We ended up hanging out with my brother Dave and his band This Way. They are a great rock band in the Portland area!! http://www.myspace.com/thiswayband

We have two upcoming gigs 9/11/09 & 9/28/09

South End Art Hop “A Toast to Literacy”

http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=158135495785&ref=mf

This is the kind of gig that really excites John and I. We are both very focused on making a positive contribution to our communities. We see literacy as a basic need to be able excel in our society and are pleased to have the opportunity to support this cause.

Citizen Bare will playing a benefit concert for the Burlington Sunrise Rotary Club. The proceeds for the show will benefit the Imagination Library project, with the goal of sending a brand-new book every month to children in Burlington, from birth until their fifth birthdays!

Monkey House w/ Barefoot Shoes

http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=125284134519&ref=mf

This is just our regular once a month gig at the Monkey House. It offers good drinks, good people and a great atmosphere. The Monkey House usually offers some art from unknown local artists. We are hoping to have another Accoustic Duo open up for us and maybe even get on stage an rock out a bit together. Should be a terrific time.

Passing Thoughts

John and I have been wrestling for the past two years about what to do about recording. A couple of months ago we tried to record on our own but didn’t like the results. A friend suggested that we go to his father for help and we may do this soon if we can come up with the time. At this point time seems to be the biggest hinderance for us.

The other thing John and I have been discussing has been the possibility of adding more pieces.  This is not anything that will happen immediately and just because we add more pieces that does not mean that we will never play another duo gig. Nothing is set in stone as far as this goes for right now it is just something we are toying with.

Thanks again so much for all of your support we look forward to seeing you out @ the gigs:)

Fun Gig July 1, 2008

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

Last night was a blast!

Thank you to all of our friends and family that came out to see us at the Monkey House last night.  We had an enjoyably indulgent night of musical expression that took us places that we did not expect.   From the debut of our song “Drop”, a bluesy version of “For What it’s Worth” by Buffalo Springfield, to our psychosomatic rendering of the Beatles “Helter Skelter” CB truly had a good time.

Thanks to Max @ The Monkey House for doing a tremendous job with the sound!  He also did a spectacular job heading up the blues jam last night.  Jam on Max!  Anybody who is interested in seeing and hearing some good blues can go down to the Monkey House on the first and third Tuesday of each month to enjoy their blues jam starting around 10pm.

Here is the set list that Citizen Bare performed last night, and the extra songs that we played.  All songs are written by Andrew Patterson, John Gratton, or Citizen Bare unless otherwise noted.

May 20th Monkey House

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

First off just wanted to say a big thank you for all those people who came out last night, I know that both Giovanni and I had a great time and were really happy to see everyone having a good time as well. Also wanted send a big shout out to Allen Gratton for playing along and singing back up vocals on the last minute inclusion to the set list(below), Steve Millers “Rockin’ me,” we really appreciate it:)

We do try to play at the Monkey House roughly once a month, we will also be setting up a time to play a Saturday at the New Moon Cafe sometime soon as well. We look forward to playing at The Grays house in Richmond sometime in June.

At some point John and I plan on recording some tunes and hope to have that done by late fall, but seriously though who knows? Also check back here for information regarding Allen Gratton’s Bluegrass project.

The Monkey House Gig on Jan. 8, 2008

Thursday, January 10th, 2008

Citizen Bare had a good time at the Monkey House.  We changed up the set list a little bit; cycling some new material into the mix.  That is one nice thing about playing for about an hour.  We don’t need to use everything including the kitchen sink to fill the time.  It was especially nice to see some of our friends/fans come out to enjoy our music.  We look forward to the opportunity to entertain and hopefully surprise you.

As always, thanks to Paddy Reagan of The Monkey House for allowing us to play and share our inner thoughts with their patrons.  Whether we are on or off, it is always a friendly environment and we feel welcome.

Andrew got to stick around and see Nicole Erin Carey.  She has a great voice and is a good at finger picker from what Andrew saw and I heard on MySpace.  Make sure you give her a listen on her MySpace page.  She is considering moving to Vermont if people want to see her perform.  Make sure to drop her a line if you want to see her.

CB Holiday Gig – Dec. 22, 2007

Sunday, December 23rd, 2007

Citizen Bare played at the New Moon Café on Dec. 22, 2007 to quite the mix of friends and family. We definitely had a good time and thank them all for coming.

It was an interesting night for Citizen Bare. Starting with Go Tell it on the Mountain…. We never did get all the chords right on that one… We definitely were a little challenged by throwing together some Christmas tunes, but felt like it was important to try to do a few. Needless to say, we are looking forward to removing them from the list for at least another year.

Highlights of the Night
It was great to have so many people to help us with the 12 Days of Christmas. It took a little bit to get everybody on board, but once we got going, it was a really good time.

A Partridge in A Pear Tree – Everybody including Citizen Bare
2 Turtle Doves – Allen Gratton
3 French Hens – Matt Magnuson
4 Calling Birds – Elizabeth Patterson
5 Golden Rings – Mike Benevento
6 Geese A Laying – Susan Edelman
7 Swans A Swimming – Becca Baker
8 Maids A Milking – Kim Manley
9 Ladies Dancing – Stephanie Edelman
10 Lords A Leaping – Cheri Coleman
11 Pipers Piping – Myles Miller
12 Drummers Drumming – Pete Murphy

It was great to have Allen Gratton and his Mandolin join John on a couple of songs. Their performance of Dance, Dance, Dance by Steve Miller, and Heart in a Cage in the styling of Chris Thile was quite good.

Elizabeth Patterson added a wonderful harmony and excellent solo to the end of Nautical Disaster by the T-Hip.

Low Point of the Night

Andrew broke a string during American Dream. What a bummer…

Citizen Bare wants to thank everybody for coming out so close to Christmas and wish you all a warm one.
